Second G1 victory for son of Manduro

3yo Braco Forte takes the Grande Premio Ipiranga in Brazil

Manduro’s son Braco Forte has been forging a successful racing career in his native Brazil and on 7 September, the three-year-old colt added a second G1 win to his record when landing the Grande Premio Ipiranga.

Settled well off the pace during the early stages of the one-mile contest, Braco Forte was still in eighth position as the field turned for home but demonstrating an impressive turn of foot, he flew down the home straight and swept home to win by half a length.

Braco Forte ran out the very impressive winner of the Grande Premio Jockey Club Brasileiro as a two-year-old and has now won or placed in six of his eight starts.

He was bred by Stud Eternamente Rio and is the best foal to date out of the First American mare Municiadora, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Do Canada.

Manduro has sired 12 Black type performers so far this year, including Vazirabad, who added his first Group win on Sunday. Manduro is also sire this year of Prix Messidor winner Fractional, plus G1 Pretty Polly Stakes third Ribbons (victorious in last year’s G1 Prix Jean Romanet).
