Seal Of Approval gets her prize

Daughter of Authorized lands the Chalice Stakes at Newbury

Authorized’s daughter Seal Of Approval has been lightly raced to date, but has proved both consistent and progressive, and successfully stepped up to Stakes level on 4 August when landing the Listed Chalice Stakes at Newbury.

Settled behind the early leaders under George Baker, the four-year-old filly had little luck in running once the field quickened for home but under a cool ride, ran on well once she found racing room and swept home to win the 12-furlong contest by a neck. The James Fanshawe-trained filly has now won twice and been placed second twice in four starts.

Owned and bred by T R G Vestey, Seal Of Approval is out of the winning Dr Devious mare Hannda, also dam of Group performer Instance and herself a half-sister to Stakes winners Hanabad and Hamairi.

Authorized has now sired eight individual Black type winners, five of whom have won at Stakes level this year including G1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Ambivalent, plus Group winner and Irish 1,000 Guineas second Rehn’s Nest.
