Scottish proves much the best in Listed Steventon Stakes

Son of Teofilo makes all to earn his second Stakes victory

Godolphin’s Scottish took the lead out of the stalls and never looked back as he cruised to a one-and-three-quarter-length victory in the Listed Steventon Stakes at Newbury on 16 July.

The four-year-old gelding by Teofilo now has two Stakes victories on his CV, having capped off 2015 with a win in the Listed Doonside Cup at Ayr.

Bred in Ireland by Knocktoran Stud, Scottish is out of the Stakes-winning mare, Zeiting. He is a full-brother to Royal Empire, winner of the G3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes, and a half-brother to Champion Combat Zone.

Teofilo had a tremendous year in 2015, siring nine G1 performers headed by Pleascach, winner of the G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas and G1 Yorkshire Oaks. Teofilo has sired 56 Stakes winners thus far in his career, including fellow G1 winners Havana Gold, Loch Garman, Parish Hall, and Trading Leather.
