Ribbons cruises to G2 victory at the Curragh

Daughter of Manduro takes the Blandford Stakes

Ribbons (Manduro), winner of last year’s G1 Prix Jean Romanet, bounced back to winning ways impressively on 13 September when flying home to win the G2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh.

Racing towards the rear under Tom Queally, the James Fanshawe-trained mare loomed up – still on the bridle - as they began to quicken for home and eased clear to win by half a length from the fast-finishing Tapestry.

Ribbons was bred by the Elite Racing Club, in whose colours she races, and is out of the winning Marju mare Sister Act, a full sister to European Champion mare and five-time G1 winner Soviet Song.

This year, Manduro has also sired G1 winner Braco Forte, plus fellow Group winners Vazirabad and Fractional.
