Queen of July

Dubawi’s Arabian Queen lands the G2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes

Arabian Queen, a two-year-old daughter of Dubawi, thrust herself into next year’s Guineas picture on 11 July when landing the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes on the second day of Newmarket’s July meeting.

Always travelling well under Ryan Moore, the David Elsworth-trained filly quickened up two furlongs from home and ran on superbly to win by a length and quarter from odds-on favourite High Celebrity.

Arabian Queen broke her maiden at Windsor back in May before finishing sixth (beaten less than three lengths) in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. She is now around 20-1 to land next year’s 1,000 Guineas.

Bred by Littleton Stud, she is the first foal to race out of the G2-winning Barathea mare Barshiba.

Dubawi has now sired no fewer than 18 Stakes winners so far this year, including G1 winners Night Of Thunder, Lucky Nine, Prince Bishop and Tiger Tees.
