Pretty Polly success for Ambivalent

Daughter of Authorized makes all the running in the G1 Curragh contest

Ambivalent, from the first crop of Derby winner Authorized, landed the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday June 30. Sent to the front from the stalls, she never saw another rival, battling on gamely in the straight to win by half a length from last seasons Oaks winner Was, with Shirocco Star (Shirocco) running another tremendous race in a close third.

A Darley homebred and owned by Ali Saeed, she is out of the Listed-performing mare Darrery (Darshaan) and a half-sister to the dam of Prix de l'Abbaye winner Total Gallery.

Ambivalent is one of 13 Stakes horses sired by Authorized and his first winner at G1 level. She is also his fourth Stakes winner of the year, alongside a pair of Group-winning three-year-olds in Rehn's Nest, who also went so close in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and Sugar Boy.
