Dubawi sires his third G1 winner with victory for Poet’s Voice in the QEII

Dubawi, who has quickly established himself as a sire of the highest calibre, celebrated his third G1 winner in emphatic style on 25 September when Poet’s Voice landed the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

Settled towards the rear of the field under Frankie Dettori, the Godolphin three-year-old loomed up on the outside once the field entered the straight and battled superbly to cross the line a short head in front of last year’s winner and multiple G1 victor Rip Van Winkle.

This was the fourth career win for Poet’s Voice, who won the G2 Champagne Stakes as a juvenile and threw himself into contention for today’s race with a four-and-a-half-length victory in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood last month. He will now be aimed at the Breeders' Cup Mile, due to take place at Churchill Downs next month.

Bred by Darley, Poet’s Voice is out of the Chief’s Crown mare Bright Tiara, a full sister to G1 winner Chief Honcho. Bright Tiara is also dam of another G1 winner in Gold Tiara.

Dubawi has sired no fewer than 12 individual Group winners from his first two crops, including fellow G1 winners Makfi and Happy Archer. Just last weekend he enjoyed a Group race treble and his tally of Black type winners for the year stands at a very impressive 17.
