Poet’s Voice colt breaks Lingfield’s juvenile course record on his racecourse debut

Brave Hero storms to victory to become the latest winner for his first-season sire

Poet’s Voice recorded a new winner in record-breaking fashion on 25 November when his son Brave Hero stormed to victory in the one-mile maiden at Lingfield.

Settled on the rail in second position under James Doyle, the Godolphin colt was around three lengths behind the leader at the three-furlong marker but once asked to quicken at the top of the straight, soon took the lead and once in front could not have been more impressive as he eased to a four-and-a-half-length victory. His winning time of 1:35.84 was a new juvenile course record.

Brave Hero was bred by Honeypuddle Stud and is out of the Stakes-placed Dr Fong mare Classical Dancer, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Imperial Dancer.

Poet’s Voice has now sired 17 individual winners, including G3 winner Poeta Diletto and fellow Black type winners Voice Of Love and Whitman.

Poet’s Voice, who stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £12,000 October 1st SLF, has 26 foals still to sell at Tattersalls this week.
