Pleascach adds a second G1 victory to her record in fine style

Daughter of Teofilo takes the Darley Yorkshire Oaks

Teofilo’s three-year-old daughter Pleascach, who won the G1 Irish Guineas earlier in the season, returned to winning ways in tremendous fashion when landing the Darley Yorkshire Oaks on the second day of the Ebor meeting.

With Irish Oaks winner Covert Love dictating the pace from the front, Pleascach was settled beautifully just behind her under Kevin Manning. As the field began to sprint for home, the Jim Bolger-trained filly came with a perfectly-timed run to take the lead just before the post and won the 12-furlong contest by a neck.

This was her fourth career victory, following her maiden win at two and an eight-and-a-half-length romp in the G3 Blue Wind Stakes en route to her first Classic triumph. Jim Bolger indicated after the race that she could now head to Longchamp for a tilt at the G1 Prix l’Opera.

Bred by her trainer, she is out of the winning Thunder Gulch mare Toirneach and is from the family of the great racemare and multiple G1 winner Spain.

Pleascach is one of eight G1 winners for Teofilo, who is enjoying a superb year courtesy of fellow G1 winner Kermadec, top-class performer Arod (last seen finishing just half a length behind Solow in the Sussex Stakes), plus a further four horses who have gained places at the highest level in 2015.

Teofilo has 12 yearlings catalogued for next month’s Goffs Orby Sale, plus a further 13 due to go through the ring at Tattersalls during the October Yearling Sale Book 1.
