Perfect ten for Lucky Nine

Dubawi five-year-old claims G2 Jockey Club Sprint at Sha Tin

Dubawi’s Lucky Nine, who started his racing career in Ireland known as Luck Or Design, added yet another Group victory to his CV on Sunday when landing the G2 Jockey Club Sprint over six furlongs at Sha Tin.

The five-year-old, who was ridden to glory by Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Brett Prebble, was recording the tenth win of his career, and he is one of nine individual Group One winners for Dubawi, with three victories at the highest level to his credit in Hong Kong. He has now won £2,598,428 in prize-money.

Lucky Nine was bred by Darley from the Green Desert mare Birjand and is a half-brother to the Group Two-placed Sudden Storm, by Darley Japan stallion Storming Home.

Dubawi, who stands at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket for £75,000, is also the sire of fellow Darley stallion Poet's Voice, 2,000 Guineas winner Makfi and Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso.
