Pearls another gem for Exceed And Excel

Promising filly makes jump to group class with ease

Pearls, a superbly-bred full-sister to Helmet and half-sister to Epaulette, has put her name up in lights by claiming the G2 Tea Rose Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. The Exceed And Excel filly swept down the outside of the track to win the feature three-year-old fillies event run on a soft track for trainer John O’Shea and jockey Sam Clipperton.

Pearls, the fourth foal to race out of the Singspiel mare Accessories, made it two wins from three starts and managed the step up in class from midweek grade with aplomb. She has progressed from a Gosford maiden win on debut, to a placing at Canterbury last start before her impressive victory on Saturday.

Pearls looks to be a filly of promise and could be set to match at least some of the achievements of her star siblings Helmet, Epaulette and another GW in Bullbars. Accessories was again served by Exceed And Excel last season.

The Australian champion stallion has now sired 105 Stakes winners worldwide.
