Nine winners for Helmet

Bongrace wins well at Musselburgh to become the latest successful runner by his first-season sire

Helmet recorded his ninth individual winner on 19 July when his daughter Bongrace took the seven-furlong maiden at Musselburgh.

Kevin Ryan’s charge was settled in second position under jockey Kevin Stott, tracking the early pace set by Casamento’s Bridal March. Bongrace was asked to quicken as she approached the final furlong marker and soon took the lead, running on well to win by a length.

Bongrace was bred by Mrs Celine Collins and is out of the multiple winner Wish List, now dam of no fewer than eight winners including G2 Superlative Stakes victor Firth Of Fifth.

Helmet is also sire of Stakes-placed filly Boater, plus fellow first-time-out winners Taamol, Thunder Snow and Chupalla.
