New Stakes winner for Dubawi

Raphinae flies home at Cologne to land the Listed Kolner Herbst-Preis

Leading sire Dubawi recorded a new Stakes winner in impressive fashion on 3 October when his progressive three-year-old daughter Raphinae took the Listed Kolner Herbst-Preis, run over seven furlongs at Cologne.

Never far from the pace under jockey Flavien Prat, the Godolphin filly demonstrated an impressive turn of foot close to home, sweeping past Amarillo and eventual third Kolonel (Manduro) to win going away by two and a half lengths.

Bred by Usk Valley Stud, she becomes the third Black type winner out of the winning Alzao mare Dodo, also dam of Listed winners Nota Bene and Porthcawl (Singspiel), plus G3 Hungerford Stakes second Tarjman. Dodo is herself a daughter of G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Dead Certain.

Dubawi, who has 13 yearlings catalogued in next week’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Part 1, is also sire this year of no fewer than five G1 winners plus a further 14 Group winners.
