New Group winner for Shamardal

Artistry claims G3 Newmarket Handicap at Rosehill

Shamardal recorded a new Group winner in style on 19 March when his daughter Artistry unleashed a powerful finish to win the G3 Newmarket Handicap over 1350m at Rosehill.

Artistry was settled towards the rear of the field under regular rider Thomas Huet before running home strongly out wide to hold on in a tight finish from stablemate Nancy for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden. It was the four-year-old's sixth win from 12 starts and her first attempt in Stakes company.

Bred by Amarina Farm, Artistry is out of the unraced Belong To Me mare Lady Peony, herself a half-sister to the Stakes-placed Holidazzleb.

Shamardal is also sire this year of G1 Jebel Hatta winner Tryster - now a hot favourite to take next Satuirday's G1 Dubai Turf on Dubai World Cup night, plus G2 winner Bow Creek and G1 Chipping Norton Stakes second Dibayani.
