New Group winner for Shamardal

Dubai Prince reigns supreme at Leopardstown, landing the G3 Killavullan Stakes

Just two days after Casamento romped to victory in the G1 Racing Post Trophy, another second-crop son of Shamardal was successful at Group level when Dubai Prince took the G3 Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown to maintain his perfect record.

Settled in third position, the Dermot Weld-trained colt travelled beautifully throughout the seven-furlong contest and taking up the running early in the home straight, moved clear of his rivals with consummate ease and eventually won by three and a half lengths.

Dubai Prince is now unbeaten in two starts, having broken his maiden at Gowran Park on 25 September. Incidentally, behind him that day was Seville, who finished second behind Casamento in the Racing Post Trophy on Saturday.

Bred by Mrs Eithne Hamilton and now running in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed, Dubai Prince is out of the winning Persian Bold mare Desert Frolic, a half-sister to multiple G1 winner and Darley Japan stallion Storming Home.  Desert Frolic has a yearling colt by Dubawi, and a 2010 colt foal by Authorized.

Shamardal has now sired 14 individual Group winners worldwide, including four G1 winners in the aforementioned Casamento, dual Classic winner Lope de Vega; plus Australian G1-winning duo Captain Sonador and Faint Perfume.
