New Black type winner for Shamardal

Fond Words lands the Listed Prix Ronde de Nuit at Chantilly for Godolphin

Fond Words, a three-year-old daughter of Shamardal who made a successful racecourse debut just this January, gained her first Black type win at Chantilly on 12 March when landing the six-and-a-half-furlong Listed Prix Ronde de Nuit.

Settled one from the rear under Mickael Barzalona, the Godolphin filly (who is trained by Alex Pantall) came with a perfectly-timed run down the home straight to sweep past her rivals and win by a nose.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Fond Words is out of the multiple Stakes winner and Group-placed mare Nashmiah (Elusive City). Nashmiah produced a filly foal by New Approach on 21 January and visits Dubawi this year.

Shamardal kicked off 2015 in fantastic style when his superstar son Able Friend recorded his second consecutive G1 victory, landing the Stewards’ Cup at Sha Tin (having also won the Hong Kong Mile last December). He has also sired UAE Oaks second Shahrasal and fellow Group performer Delectation

He stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €70,000 (Oct 1st SLF), alongside his G1-winning son Casamento (€5,000 Oct 1st SLF), whose first foals averaged no less than eight times their fee at the sales last year.
