New Bay stakes his Arc claim

Dubawi’s French Derby winner lands the Prix Niel

Dubawi’s hugely talented son New Bay has barely put a foot wrong this year, winning three Stakes races including the G1 Prix du Jockey Club and finishing second in the French Guineas. On 13 September, he took his Arc trial in the most impressive fashion when easing to a two-and-a-half-length win in the G2 Prix Niel.

Allowing his pacemaker Countermeasure to do his job during the early stages of the 12-furlong contest, New Bay travelled superbly throughout and once asked for his effort by jockey Vincent Cheminaud, soon skipped to the front and won with plenty in hand.

A Juddmonte Farms homebred, New Bay is out of the Stakes-winning mare Cinnamon Bay, a half-sister to multiple Group winner Bellamy Cay. They are from the family of G1 winners Wemyss Bight, Oasis Dream, and Beat Hollow.

New Bay is one of no fewer than 10 G1 winners this year for the world’s leading stallion Dubawi, who is also sire of King George Victor Postponed, Juddmonte heroine Arabian Queen, plus Lockinge winner Night Of Thunder – who will stand at Kildangan Stud in 2016.
