Narniyn the latest Stakes winner for Dubawi

3yo filly lands the Prix Charles Laffitte at Chantilly

Dubawi’s runners continue to impress this year, with no fewer than 11 winning or placing in Stakes contests last month alone. Darley’s leading sire wasted little time in opening his October Black type account when his daughter Narniyn ran out the convincing winner of the Listed Prix Charles Laffitte, run over ten furlongs at Chantilly.

Settled just off the pace under Christophe Lemaire, the three-year-old filly made her move a furlong from home and despite being hard pressed by Permission Slip, ran on impressively to win by a length and three-quarters. Permission Slip (by fellow Darley stallion Authorized) gave a good account of herself to finish third and become the 11th Black type performer this year for her sire.

Bred by H H The Aga Khan, Narniyn is out of the unraced Alhaarth mare Narmina, herself a half-sister to Group winner and multiple Stakes producer Narwala.

Dubawi has now sired 19 individual Stakes winners this year, and a further 16 horses who have been placed at Black type level.

This Sunday his outstanding son Al Kazeem will aim to add a fourth G1 victory to his record when lining up in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
