A miler to follow

Dubawi's son Afsare takes the G3 Sovereign Stakes by six lengths

Afsare, from the stellar first-crop of Dubawi, took the step down in trip to a mile in his stride when impressively landing the G3 Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury by six lengths. Campaigned mainly over ten furlongs, he was always on the bridle and quickened clear in the final furlong to win going away in the style of a miler to follow for the rest of the season.

A Darley homebred out of the winning Fairy King mare Jumaireyah, he is a half-brother to the Stakes-filly Reem Three and a close relative of Danadana, another Group winner by Dubawi this season. Jumaireyah also has a full-brother yearling to Afsare and a colt foal by Manduro.

Afsare becomes Dubawi's 12th individual Group winner from his first crop, at least two clear of any other European or North American stallion at the same point. His five G1 winners from his this crop include the 2,000 Guineas winner Makfi, Dubai World Cup hero Monterosso, top International Sprinter Lucky Nine and fellow Dalham Hall stallion and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Poet's Voice.
