Joyful Hope remains unbeaten

Daughter of Shamardal wins the Listed Premio Mario Incisa della Rocchetta

The majestically bred three-year-old filly Joyful Hope (Shamardal) remained unbeaten on Sunday May 10 when stepping up in grade to win the Listed Premio Mario Incisa della Rocchetta. Making her seasonal bow, and only her second career start after a debutant win last November, she had no trouble in disposing of her rivals by three lengths in the 2000m contest, with Teofilo siring his second new Stakes horse of the day with Loritania finishing third.

Bred by Razza del Velino SRL, Joyful Hope is a full-sister to Shamardal’s Champion Crackerjack King, winner of the Italian Derby and Premio Presidente della Republic, and a half-sister to the globetrotting G1-winner Jakkalberry. Her dam, the winning Barathea mare Claba di San Jore, also has a two-year-old filly named La Mortola and a yearling colt, both by Dubawi.

Joyful Hope is one of 11 Stakes winners for Shamardal in 2015 including the World’s best Turf horse Able Friend, plus Group winners Tryster, Amaron and the evergreen French Navy. He is standing this current season at a fee €70,000 alongside his juvenile G1-winning son Casamento (€5,000).
