Daughter of Dubawi becomes her outstanding sire’s tenth Group winner, speeding to victory in the G3 Flying Five

Just a day after Poet’s Voice romped to an impressive victory in the G2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood, another member of Dubawi's talented first crop was victorious at Group level when Astrophysical Jet beat a high-class field that included two previous G1 winners to land the Goffs Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh.

Racing off the early pace under jockey Graham Gibbons, the three-year-old filly began to weave her way through the field on the stands rail and once in front, powered clear and ran on superbly to win by two lengths.

This was the third career victory for Astrophysical Jet, who won on her racecourse debut at two and was last seen finishing third in the G2 King George Stakes, where she was beaten less than a length.

Bred by Grangecon Stud, Astrophysical Jet is out of the unraced Rainbow Quest mare Common Knowledge, a half-sister to the dam of G1 winner Ask and a granddaughter of the great Highclere.

Also on Sunday at the Curragh, Dubawi sired a new juvenile Group performer when Big Issue finished a creditable third in the G3 Round Tower Stakes.
