Impressive Blue Wind triumph for Tarfasha

Classic's beckons for daughter of Teofilo

Tarfasha, a three-year-old daughter of Teofilo, marked herself down as a filly to follow at Naas on Wednesday May 14 when running out the impressive winner of the G3 Blue Wind Stakes. Making her seasonal reappearance in the ten furlong contest, she was held up near the rear early before making a sweeping move as they entered the straight, with jockey Pat Smullen not having to be vigorous to record a three-and-a-quarter length triumph over Authorized's talented filly We'll Go Walking with a further three lengths back to the third.

Speaking after the race trainer Dermot Weld commented that he hopes she will head to Epsom for the Oaks and will appreciate better ground.

Bred by Rockfield Farm and sold as a yearling for €200,000, Tarfasha is bred to appreciate middle distances being a half-sister to four Stakes performers including Champion stayer Saddler's Rock and three-time Classic-placed Galileo Rock. Out of the Groom Dancer mare Grecian Bride, she is also from a top-class family that features G1-winners Gamut, Tannery, Sought Out, Derby winner North Light and 2,000 Guineas winner Golan.

Teofilo, who stands this season at a fee of €50,000, is the sire of five G1 winners including Classic winners Trading Leather and Voleuse de Coeurs  and G1 winning juveniles Parish Hall and Loch Garman.
