Belle Miraaj leads home Riding Shotgun in the Listed Southland Guineas

A winner of her maiden Stakes race two starts back, three-year-old Iffraaj filly Belle Miraaj was simply two classy for her rivals in the Listed Southland Guineas at Ascot Park, New Zealand, pulling away from Riding Shotgun (Iffraaj) for an easy victory.

Starting the short-priced favourite based on her recent form, Belle Miraaj was slightly reluctant to enter the stalls, but after eventually loading, she jumped away well and went forward to sit outside the leader. Pulling herself to the front before the home turn, the filly extended away from the field to win the race with ease.

Bred by Haunui Bloodstock, Belle Miraaj is the fourth foal and first Stakes winner for the Carnegie mare Beach Dance, a half-sister to Stakes performers Florinda and Getty, from the family of G1 Australian Guineas winner Ferlax.

One of 26 Stakes winner for Iffraaj, who has already sired five G1 winners highlight by three in 2014 in Rizeena, Benvenue and Turn Me Loose, the G1 performed son of Zafonic is standing at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £22,500 October 1st SLF.
