Guineas victory for Lovely Pass

Raven’s Pass filly sweeps home at Meydan to land the UAE 1,000 Guineas

Lovely Pass, one of the first winners for Raven's Pass last year who also took third in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, kicked off her three-year-old campaign in superb fashion on 7 February when landing the UAE 1,000 Guineas at Meydan.

Always racing close to the pace under Ahmed Ajtebi, the Godolphin filly took up the running once entering the home straight and was never troubled from then on, running on superbly to win by half a length from Shuruq (who is by Raven’s Pass’s own sire Elusive Quality), with Music Chart completing the Godolphin trifecta by finishing third.

Bred by Stowell Park Stud, Lovely Pass is out of the Falmouth Stakes winner Macadamia (Classic Cliche), who is due to return to Raven’s Pass this year.

Raven’s Pass enjoyed a tremendous first season in 2012, siring three further Black type performers including Steeler, who broke the juvenile course record at Newmarket when landing the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes en route to a creditable third in the G1 Racing Post Trophy.

Raven’s Pass stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €30,000 October 1st SLF.
