A golden day for Teofilo

Scottish becomes his third Stakes winner of the day

Teofilo enjoyed a superb Saturday when Scottish became his third Stakes winner when taking the Listed Doonside Cup at Ayr.

After a brace of Black type winners in Australia including star Australian colt Kermadec’s thrilling victory in the G1 George Main Stakes, the Andrew Balding-trained gelding became a very apt winner on Scotland’s biggest flat day of the season.

Bred by Knocktoran Stud, Scottish is out of the Stakes-winning mare Zeiting and a full-brother to Royal Empire, winner of the G3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes in 2013. Zeiting also has a full-sister yearling who was sold for €200,000 at Arqana last month.

Teofilo has now sired 15 Stakes winner in 2015 including dual G1 scorers Pleascach and Kermadec, the highly-rated G2 Summer Mile winner Arod and Listed-winning juveniles Round Two and Fireglow.
