G3 glory for Raven's Pass

Secret Number and Royal Empire (Teofilo) fill the first two places in the Cumberland Lodge Stakes

Godolphin trained runners filled the first two positions in the G3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot, with both runners being sired by Darley stallions. Secret Number, a three-year-old son of Raven's Pass, has been campaigned at Group level after winning a Listed race at Meydan at the start of the year, and it was he who led home Royal Empire (Teofilo), with the winning margin of two-and-a-half lengths between the two.

A Darley homebred, Secret Number is the third Group winner produced by the Alleged mare Mysterial, after the pair of G1-winning milers Dubai Destination and Librettist.

Raven's Pass, who sired a €520,000 yearling filly earlier this week at Goffs, has sired nine Stakes horses including record-breaking juvenile Steeler, winner of the Royal Lodge Stakes and Lovely Pass, the heroine of the UAE 1,000 Guineas earlier this year.
