First Slade Power mares scanned in foal

Connections of the dual G1 winner have three mares to test positive

A trio of mares owned by the connections of Slade Power are among the first to be scanned in foal to the G1 sprinter, who is standing his first season at Kildangan Stud in Ireland.

Trained by Eddie Lynam, Slade Power carried the colours of David and Sabena Power to success at the highest level twice last year, triumphing in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot before recording a memorable victory in the G1 Darley July Cup.

Among the first mares scanned in foal are Sylvan Mist, a winning Footstepsinthesand mare from a Stakes-winning family; Sho Girl, a winning daughter of Lawman; and Sabena Power’s Yulong Baoju, by Acclamation, a four-time scorer who was rated 111 by Timeform and is from the family of the G1 Middle Park winner Hayil.

Eddie Lynam commented: “We are delighted to support Slade Power in his new career. We had some great days with him at the races and we look forward to many more with his progeny in years to come.”

Among the stellar book of mares Slade Power will cover this season are 53 Stakes horses, including the G1 winners Carry On Katie, Embassy and Rajeem. His quality book also includes 26 dams of Stakes winners, 16 siblings to G1 winners and three mares who are out of G1 winners.

The winner of 10 of his 20 starts including six Stakes races, Slade Power also triumphed in the G2 British Champions Sprint Stakes in 2013, and was placed in both the Darley July Cup and Haydock Park Sprint Cup that season.

Slade Power stands at Kildangan Stud where his fee is €20,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
