First Australian Stakes winner for Helmet

Archives scores brilliant maiden win in Listed Hampden Stakes at Doomben

Helmet’s first crop have continued their recent run of success with Archives becoming his sire’s first Stakes winner in the Listed Hampden Stakes over 1200m at Doomben on 21 May.

Archives settled just off the speed in the early stages and once entering the straight, he found a run along the inside rails and proved his class to hold off the fast-finishing Jericho to claim a significant maiden victory.

The impressive colt is out of G1 winner Preserve, a half-sister to G1 Golden Rose winner and fellow Darley stallion Denman. Archives is a half-brother to multiple G3 winner Safeguard (Exceed And Excel) and G2-placed Shaumari (Medaglia d'Oro).

Archives joins Tarnhelm as an Australian-bred winner for Helmet who has sired four European winners to date in Kreb’s Cycle, Boater (who recently added her first Black type to her record), Chupalla and dual winner Orewa.
