This week: 2007 Horse of the Year Manduro whose first yearlings are on offer at the sales now

High on the lists of agents and trainers for the forthcoming October Sales at Tattersalls will be the name Manduro, who has his first yearlings selling this autumn.

A son of the 2007 Horse of the Year has already topped the second session of the BBAG yearling sale in Germany and Manduro has many more yearlings to come, with 24 in Tattersalls October Book 1 and 15 in Book 2, while five are to go under the hammer at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale later this month.

To date, the son of Monsun has had 11 yearlings sell for up to €150,000, for a colt at BBAG named Seven Summits who is a three-parts brother to Samum and Schiaparelli.

Selling in Ireland is a Manduro filly from another good German family, that of the Champion three-year-old and Deutsches Derby winner Adlerflug (In the Wings). Selling as lot 34, the March-foaled filly is out of Anthyllis, Adlerflug's half-sister by Lycius. The filly's third dam Alya is a full-sister to Allegretta, the dam of the great Urban Sea and Darley sire King's Best.

Those in Tattersalls Book 1 include lot 200, a filly hailing from the family of Singspiel's recently retired multiple G1 winner Dar Re Mi and the Derby-placed Rewilding (Tiger Hill), while New Approach crops up in the pedigree of lot 262, a Manduro colt out of the Australian G3 winner Forest Express.

The Cooneen Stud-consigned lot 276 is a half-brother to Tiger Hill's Listed winner Gentle Tiger, out of the G1 Fillies' Mile winner Glorosia, by Bering. Later in the sale, the prolific black type-winning family of Warrsan, Needle Gun and Luso is represented via a Manduro colt out of Mantesera, a full-sister to Cloud Castle (lot 408).

Best Of The Bests' dam Sueboog was among the mares to visit Manduro in his first season at stud and her April-foaled filly sells as lot 632 in Book 1 from the Kirtlington Stud draft, while Peter Onslow is offering lot 676, a colt who is the first foal of his G3 winner Trick Or Treat, by Lomitas.

Book 2 includes a February-born Manduro colt out of the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Edabiya (Rainbow Quest), a half-sister to Ascot Gold Cup winner Enzeli and Ireland's Champion three-year-old filly Ebadiyla. Another family heavily laden with Black type winners is that of lot 1444, a filly out of the Stakes-placed Pinacotheque, a half-sister to the trio of Wildenstein-bred Group winners Policy Maker, Pushkin and Place Rouge.

Anthony Oppenheimer's Cheshire Oaks winner Rockerlong has been highly mated since she retired to stud, visiting Cape Cross, Galileo and Dansili, and she also featured as part of Manduro's first book, with the resultant filly being consigned by the owner/breeder's Hascombe & Valiant Studs and offered as lot 1530.
