Fantastic first foals by Poet’s Voice

With 16 foals now on the ground, the first offspring of the outstanding miler are already impressing

This year’s crop of foals are now arriving thick and fast and some of the most eagerly-anticipated are the first foals by Poet's Voice, with the young Darley stallion having attracted a superb first book of mares in 2012.

Pictured is his strapping colt out of Fifty, who was born at the National Stud on 12 February. Fifty is herself a daughter of G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas second and Stakes winner Amethyst, a full sister to King Of Kings.

Neville Poole, who bred the colt in partnership with Alan Franklin said, ‘He is a beautiful individual and I am delighted with him.’

‘I loved Poet's Voice when he was racing and thought his QEII performance was terrific. I will definitely be using him again next year.’

Other notable recent arrivals for Poet’s Voice include colts out of Pretty Polly Stakes winner and dual G1-placer Hi Dubai (a full sister to Fantastic Light), and G3 winner Neptune’s Bride – already dam of Tokyo Derby winner Sea Chariot.

Perfect Spirit – dam of Dubawi’s G3 winner Perfect Tribute – produced a three-parts sister to her on 3 February, while Amallna (a half-sister to G1 Nassau Stakes winner and Oaks third Zahrat Dubai) gave birth to a filly on the same day.

Another half-sister to a G1 winner, Sky Wonder (whose half-brother Mensa was crowned Champion older horse in Hong Kong following his victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup), produced a filly on 20 February.

Poet’s Voice covered an outstanding book of mares during his first season that included 38 Group or Listed performers and 34 dams of Stakes horses.
