Exceed And Excel filly proves far too speedy

Moqla claims maiden Stakes success in Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes

Two-year-old Exceed And Excel filly Moqla recorded her maiden Stakes success with a blistering all-the-way win in the Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes over 1050m at Morphettville, 7 May.

After jumping straight to the lead from an outside barrier, jockey Damian Lane crossed down to the rails and Moqla showed sustained speed, kicking clear after straightening and proving far too quick for her rivals.

Bred and raced by Shadwell Stud, Moqla is out of winning Zabeel mare Bahja, a half-sister to Stakes performers Alharir and Nasmah, the dams of G1 winners Ertijaal (Hard Spun) and Rewaaya (Singspiel) respectively.

Moqla becomes the 113th career Stakes winner and the 56th juvenile Stakes winner for Exceed And Excel. Among his 113 Stakes winners are 10 G1 winners including record-breaking Caulfield Guineas winner Helmet, Golden Slipper heroine Overreach and four-time G1 winner Guelph.

Exceed And Excel is standing at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €40,000 while Helmet is standing at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £8,000.
