Dubawi youngsters at the double!

Two juvenile colts remain unbeaten with impressive Stakes victories

Dubawi enjoyed a juvenile Stakes double on Saturday in the space of just 20 minutes when Night Of Thunder landed the Doncaster Stakes by three lengths, swiftly followed by Piping Rock who took the G3 Horris Hill Stakes in equally impressive fashion.

Night Of Thunder looked to be a promising sort when posting a six-length victory on his racecourse debut earlier this month and he confirmed that promise in superb style when landing the Listed Doncaster Stakes.

Always prominent under Richard Hughes, Night Of Thunder travelled well throughout the six-furlong contest and once asked to quicken, soon moved clear of his rivals and eased away to win by three lengths. He is now around 14-1 to take next year’s 2,000 Guineas.

Bred by Frank Dunne and now running in the colours of Saeed Manana, Night Of Thunder is out of the Stakes-placed Galileo mare Forest Storm.

Less than half an hour later at Newbury, Piping Rock (who is also trained by Richard Hannon) also maintained his unbeaten record in superb style, winning the G3 Horris Hill stakes by almost three lengths.

He is now unbeaten in three starts, having won on his debut at Ascot in July before winning by four lengths over seven furlongs at Salisbury earlier this month.

Piping Rock was bred by Stowell Hill Stud is out of the winning mare Anna Oleanda, a full sister to Group winner Anno Luce and dam of another Group winner in Middle Club.

Dubawi has now sired 25 Stakes winners this year, including four who have won at G1 level.
