Determined Lacy lands G3 Zastrow Stutenpreis at Baden-Baden

Authorized filly outbattles Dubawi’s Heartily to add her first Group win

Lacy, last seen finishing a creditable fourth in the G1 Preis der Diana, added a well-deserved first Group win to her record on 6 September with a tenacious victory in the G3 Zastrow Stutenpreis, run over ten and a half furlongs at Baden-Baden.

Settled at the rear of the field, the Waldemar Hickst-trained filly made her move as the field turned for home and after a superb battle with Dubawi’s daughter Heartily, just held on to win by a short head.

This was her second Stakes win, having taken the Listed BMW Preis at Dusseldorf in June, before her second place in the G3 Hamburger Stutenpreis earned her a tilt at the aforementioned G1 Preis der Diana.

Bred by Gestut Fahrhof, she is out of the well-bred Oasis Dream mare La Vinchina, a half-sister to G1 winner Lavirco and multiple Group winner Laveron. They are from the family of Champion Lomitas.

Authorized has now sired ten Pattern performers this season, including Group-winning trio Ambivalent (also placed in this year’s G1 Dubai Sheema Classic), Daksha and Hartnell; plus Battalion, who took third in today’s September Stakes at Kempton.
