Desert Water the latest winner for Sepoy

Two-year-old filly sweeps to victory first time out at Goodwood

First-season sire Sepoy recorded his fifth winner of the month on 30 August when his daughter Desert Water made a successful racecourse debut at Goodwood.

Settled at the rear during the early stages of the one-mile contest, Desert Water (who is trained by Richard Hannon) came with an impressive late run to sweep past her rivals in the final furlong and win by a neck from Dubara (Dubawi).

Desert Water is out of the Green Desert mare Desert Sunrise, who is herself a half-sister to G1 Middle Park Stakes winner Primo Valentino and Cherry Hinton heroine Dora Carrington.

Sepoy sired his first Group winner last Saturday when Kilmah (who was his very first European winner), led from pillar to post to take the G3 Prestige Stakes, also at Goodwood. He is also sire of Stakes winner Baileys Showgirl, plus multiple winner Phijee.
