Definitely a star

Authorized filly wins her maiden at Newbury

Two-year-old filly Estrela, by Authorized, won her maiden comfortably at Newbury on Saturday, October 22. The meaning of her name, originally a Portuguese word, is star and she made justice to that with a very impressive display. Estrela made all the running and went clear from the field to win a competitive maiden by four-and-a-half lengths.

Estrela is out of the G1-winning mare Wannabe Grand, a daughter of the great Danehill. Wannabe Grand has also produced the Listed-placed colt in Japan, Zetto Kirk. The winner was bred by Chippenham Lodge Stud and is owned by Seasons Holidays.

It was the fifth British winner, and sixth overall, for the Epsom Derby winner and Darley stallion Authorized. His other winners include the unbeaten colt Tamarrud and filly Witnessed.
