Dawn Approach’s brother Herald The Dawn strikes at the Curragh

Juvenile son of New Approach lands the G2 Futurity Stakes

Eight years after he had won the race himself, New Approach’s juvenile son Herald The Dawn landed his biggest success in his fledgling career when taking the G2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh. Coming into the race on the back of a convincing Maiden success at Naas, he was held up in third early on in the seven furlong contest, before challenging the long time leader Now Or Never in the final furlong to win going away by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

A race steeped with a rich heritage, with previous winners also including Darley stallion Teofilo, Herald The Dawn holds future G1 entries in Ireland in the Vincent O’Brien National Stakes and in the England in the Middle Park and Dewhurst Stakes.

Bred by his trainer Jim Bolger, Herald The Dawn is a full brother to the unbeaten Champion juvenile and impressive 2,000 Guineas winner Dawn Approach. Out of the Phone Trick mare Hymn Of The Dawn, it is a family that is serving Jim Bolger well, with her daughter Fainne producing two Stakes performers this season by Teofilo in Sanus Per Aquam and Morning Mix.

New Approach has also sired the Oaks heroine Talent, the G1 Nassua Stakes winner Sultanina and an Australasian Oaks winner in May’s Dream.
