Darley-sired one-two in the Listed Dash Stakes

Shamardal’s Toscanini just heads Flight Risk (Teofilo) at the Curragh

Shamardal’s four-year-old son Toscanini landed his first Stakes victory on Saturday 25 June when just getting the better of a protracted duel with Flight Risk (Teofilo). The winner of three previous races, he was always going well under the nearside rail and rallied gamely when challenged in the final furlong to record a head victory. This victory adds to his seven places at Stakes level including an excellent second in the G1 National Stakes as a juvenile.

Toscanini is one of six winners, from only six runners, out of the Panoramic mare Tuzla. A winner of 12 starts in the US including a top-flight victory in the Ramona Handicap, Tuzla also finished an excellent second in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile.

Shamardal has been enjoying a tremendous 2016 and Toscanini becomes his 11th individual Stakes winner. Amongst this number are G1 winners Tryster and Dariyan and a trio of impressive G2-winning fillies; Usherette, Speedy Boarding and Royal Solitaire.
