Darley open house

Kildangan Stud opens their doors for stallion viewing

Kildangan Stud in Co Kildare will be hosting an open week from 17 to 22 January with Darley’s resident stallions on show.

Heading the Irish roster is Cape Cross, who stands alongside last season’s runaway winner of the first-season sires’ championship, Iffraaj, whose record-breaking haul of 38 individual winners was led by G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere hero Wootton Bassett.

A possible contender for this year’s first-season sires’ title is Teofilo, who has his first runners in 2011 and was the leading freshman sire at the 2010 yearling sales. Manduro (pictured) and Echo Of Light also have their exciting first runners this season, while Raven's Pass, whose first foals were well-received at the breeding stock sales, will see his first yearlings up for auction later in the year.

Kildangan will also be showing off its newest recruit, the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Vale Of York, by one of Europe’s most exciting young stallions, Invincible Spirit.

Mick Buckley, Darley’s Nominations Manager in Ireland, said, “We are delighted to offer breeders the opportunity to view the stallions ahead of the upcoming covering season and are particularly excited to be showing Vale Of York, a Breeders’ Cup winner and the best two-year-old son of Invincible Spirit.”

The stud will be open from 11am to 3pm on the days stated and refreshments will be available. Please call Mick, Celine or Eamon on + (0) 353 45 527600 for further information.
