Creswick Series Final to Pyrrolic

Teofilo colt claims first Stakes victory

Having won on debut by three lengths as a two-year-old, the opinion was always apparent that Teofilo colt Pyrrolic had Stakes ability.

Resuming from a spell in the Listed A.R. Cresswick Series Final down the Flemington straight, the three-year-old came from well back in the field to defeat Street Sense gelding Hard Stride who had tried to lead throughout.

Bred by Dr G. J. Anderson, Pyrrolic is out of the Jeune mare Guillem, a half-sister to the Stakes placed Refuse To Bend gelding McNulty.

A short head margin stopped Teofilo from achieving a Stakes double on the day, as his two-year-old son Triple Gold finished a narrow second in the Listed Taj Rossi Series Final earlier in the day.

The second Australian Stakes winner for Teofilo after the G1 Queensland Derby victory of Sontaag just over four weeks ago, Pyrrolic is one of 23 international Stakes winners for his sire highlighted by six individual G1 winners including Trading Leather, Havana Gold and Parish Hall.
