Champagne for Outstrip

Outstrip, a juvenile colt by Exceed And Excel, ran out the impressive winner of the G2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday September 14. A race won five year's previously by Poet's Voice (Dubawi), Outstrip was rear early on the rain softened ground before making his move two furlongs from home, powering clear to record a three length triumph. 

A Darley homebred, Outstrip is the second foal of Siempre Asi, an El Prado mare who won the G1 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland in 2006. Siempre Asi also has a yearling filly and a filly foal, both by Dubawi.

Exceed And Excel is having a banner year with Outstrip becoming his 20th Stakes winner of 2013. He has a pair of Australian G1-winning juveniles in Guelph and Overreach, and eight further Group winners including Kuroshio, who took the G2 McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley earlier in the day.
