Authoritarian dominates at Flemington

Authorized three-year-old wins VRC St Leger from Teofilo's Cuban Fighter

Stepping up from a maiden victory last time out, three-year-old Authorized gelding Authoritarian produced an exciting victory to defeat Cuban Fighter (Teofilo) by three-and-a-quarter lengths in the Listed VRC St Leger at Flemington on 25 April.

Jockey Daniel Moor jumped the lightl- raced runner away well from the gates and they settled well at the front of the field. Authoritarian was still clear when they began to quicken for home and he maintained his position superbly to win in convincing fashion.

He could now head for the G1 South Australian Derby or G1 Queensland Derby, both due to take place in the coming weeks.

Authoritarian was bred by Mr I T Stefan and Dr L G Steffen and is one of four winners - and the first Stakes winner - for the Stravinsky mare Special Dream.

Also sire this year of G1 winner Hartnell, plus G2 winner Maygrove, Authorized stands at Haras du Logis in France at a fee of €10,000 October 1st, SLF.
