Another Queensland Stakes double for Dubawi

Srikandi and Eastern Prince claim Stakes races at Doomben

For the second consecutive weekend Dubawi sired a Queensland Stakes double at Doomben, with Eastern Prince winning the Listed Queensland Day Stakes and Srikandi claiming the G3 Glenlogan Park Stakes, May 24.

Srikandi was part of Dubawi’s Stakes double last weekend and, on a quick seven-day back-up, posted her third consecutive Stakes victory in the Glenlogan Park Stakes in what was her first win at Group level.

Bred by John Collins, Srikandi is out of the Hurricane Sky mare Raining, herself a half-sister to the dam of Listed winner Portofino Bay. Already the dam of the G3 Final Fling Stakes winner Rain Gal and the Listed placed Arjuna, this is also the family of G1 winner Pontormo and G3 winners Madame Shinko and Opiki.

Earlier in the day, three-year-old Eastern Prince recorded his maiden Stakes victory in the Queensland Day Stakes.

Bred by Stuart Doughty, Eastern Prince is the first foal to race out of Marauding mare My Name Is Luka, a half-sister to G2-placed Singspiel filly Paulini.

In winning, Eastern Prince became the 14th Stakes winner this year for Dubawi, a figure matched by only Shamardal worldwide.
