Ambivalent is anything but at York

G1-winning daughter of Authorized records a decisive victory in the Middleton Stakes

Authorized’s hugely talented daughter Ambivalent, winner of the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes last June, made a very successful British seasonal debut on the second day of York’s Dante meeting when running out the impressive winner of the G2 Middleton Stakes.

Last seen finishing a very creditable third in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic on Dubai World Cup night at Meydan, Ambivalent soon took up the running and travelling well throughout, responded brilliantly when challenged in the closing stages to win by a length and three quarters from Secret Gesture.

This was her fifth career win and third at Stakes level. She is now likely to head back to the Curragh to attempt back-to-back victories in the Pretty Polly.

Bred by Darley and racing in the colours of Ali Saeed, Ambivalent is out of the Stakes-placed Darshaan mare Darrery, a half-sister to another G1 producer in Diary (Green Desert) – herself dam of G1 Prix de l’Abbaye winner Total Gallery.

Authorized is sire of three G1 winners, the other two being Seal Of Approval and Complacent. This year he has sired eight individual Stakes performers, including last month’s G3 Prix Allez France winner Daksha and Honor Bound, who landed the Oaks Trial at Lingfield at the weekend.

He stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €10,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
